In addition to their many appearances in Kansas, they have performed in 16 other states, as well as in Canada and Japan. Some of the numbers they perform will be from their six recordings. One of the Hieberts? most successful recordings is ?A Dulcimer Christmas,? which is a collection of holiday favorites.
Prior to the concert, Mayor Delores Dalke will introduce two political representatives: Bob Hein, who is running for county commission, and Audrey Mann, wife of Tracey Mann, candidate for the First District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
An honor guard by the Hills?boro American Legion Post 366 will accompany a performance of the national anthem by Randal Claassen and group.
Dale Honeck, former Hillsboro High School principal, will return as Uncle Sam. He will lead the children?s ?Red, White and Blue Patriotic Parade? at 6:15 p.m. west of the Schaeffler Carriage House. All children ages 12 and under are invited to bring their decorated wagons, tricycles, bikes, scooters and doll carriages to walk in the parade.
All children under 12 will receive free sparklers. The Hillsboro Fire Department will supervise lighting the sparklers. Another familiar feature of the evening will be Don Dahl as Abraham Lincoln delivering the Gettysburg Address.
For $5, participants can enjoy grilled jumbo all-beef hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad or chips, an ice cream desert, and beverage.
Food sales will benefit the Hillsboro Convention and Visitors Bureau. The public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for an evening of old-fashioned fun.
