Dollar General buys Wal-Mart building

Dollar General announced July 27 it has purchased the former Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market location at 605 Orchard Drive in Hillsboro.

Dollar General officials anticipate relocating its existing store location into the purchased site by October 2016.

The Hillsboro building is one of 41 former Wal-Mart Express and Neighborhood Market locations across 11 states that Dollar General has purchased.

“Dollar General is excited to add these locations to our existing store base,” said Todd Vasos, chief executive officer. “We look forward to the opportunity to better serve our customers in these communities by continuing to provide the convenience and value they expect from Dollar General.”

Company officials said communities served by the newly relocated store will enjoy a fresh DG16 layout with additional sales floor square feet, complete with expanded offerings such as fresh meat and produce, all designed to make shopping easier for customers.

Hillsboro is one of 37 locations where Dollar General intends to operate the fueling stations.
