‘Beast Feast’ raises $3,000 to support Marion County Food Bank

Kevin Fruechting, Administrative Council chairman for the Aulne United Methodist Church, presents a check Sunday morning for $3,000 to Gerry Henderson in support of the Marion County Food Bank. The money was raised through a “Beast Feast” Feb. 18 that served up wild-game delicacies such as squirrel, elk, alligator, barbecued raccoon, venison, fried fish, mountain oysters, smoked trout, goose and duck jalapeño poppers, quail, pheasant and more. The event was at the Marion County Lake Hall. This is the second year the Aulne UMC Men’s Group has sponsored the event, which drew a capacity crowd of 300 people. According to organizers, tickets were free but seating was limited because of the turnout. The free tickets were gone within 10 days. Prizes were awarded that night; prize tickets were available for “purchase” by donation. All proceeds from the event went to the food bank.
