Flint Hills counterpoint to host Summer Sound tasting

Flint Hills Counterpoint will launch its 2021-2022 Tour season with Summer Sound Tasting at 7 p.m. on Aug 7.

Sample the summer sounds of Marion County. Join in a community musical work inspired by the

intriguing soundscape of Marion County.

The tour will start at Fannie Sterling 1884 and the Porcupine Tea Company, 123 N. Walnut,

Peabody, KS. Music from Fannie Sterling’s player piano will filter out to the sidewalk where

Pandea Smith will have sparkling fruit tea and scones from Porcupine Tea Company available

for sale. Susan Mayo will give a whirlwind talk about soundscapes and sound collection at 7:30 p.m.

followed by exploration of Fannie Sterlings 1884 and Flint Hills Gypsy (to collect sounds and

possibly antiques). The evening will be capped off by a jaunt to Faie Frederickson’s beautiful

prairie walk to enjoy and collect the night sounds of the prairie.
