Five new positive cases of COVID-19

The Marion County Health Department announced this afternoon around 5 p.m. that five new confirmed positive cases have been identified in Marion County. The cases have been placed in isolation. 

Marion County Health Department reports 42 total cases of coronavirus disease in Marion County, with 11 active cases. New cases: 

  • Positive case is a female in her 80s 
  • Positive case is a female in her 70s 
  • Positive case is a female in her 60s 
  • Positive case is a male in his 60s 
  • Positive case is a male in his 50s 

Contact tracing is underway, with identified contacts being placed in quarantine. A close contact is defined as being within 6 feet for 10 minutes or longer. The Marion County Health Department is working with KDHE and will be monitoring the individuals placed in Isolation and Quarantine. No further information about the cases will be released. 

The health department reminds Marion County that there it now has confirmed community spread because the source of the coronavirus cannot be identified. Please take the appropriate precautions. 

The Marion County Health Department recommends the following actions to reduce the spread of COVID-19: 

  •  Stay home when sick
  • Practice social distancing
  • Practice thorough handwashing with soap and water or hand sanitizer
  • Wear a mask in public
