FACT receives grant

Families and Communities Together, Inc. (FACT) of Marion County is pleased to announce that it has received a $3,000 grant from the L. Marie Haun Charitable Fund for Children (Kids FUNd Grant) through Central Kansas Community Foundation. FACT will use the grant to fund FACT’s Growing Family Connections project.

The Growing Family Connections project will provide parent education classes using the evidence-based Conscious Discipline© program by Dr. Becky Bailey which specifically connects teaching parenting skills, applying children’s behavioral research, and strengthening family relationships. Parents often lack the parenting skills necessary to grow healthy families. The program will incorporate 7 two-hour classes, one per month at varying locations throughout the county. A meal will be included in each class, and free childcare will be provided while parents attend the meeting, with children joining their parents at the end of each class for a family activity. The classes will be offered free-of-charge to parents, grandparents, or guardians of children in Marion County.

Since FACT is a non-profit organization, it heavily relies on grants as well as donations from organizations, churches, payroll deductions, and individuals to fund its programs and services. That is why FACT deems this grant is so important and is so appreciative of the CKCF.
