EMS Director resigns in special meeting

The Marion County Board of Commissioners met in special session at 9 a.m. on Friday morning. Chairman Dave Mueller attended via phone, Commissioner Dave Crofoot attending via teleconference, and Commissioners Randy Dallke, Jonah Gehring and Kent Becker attended in person.

Director Travis Parmley and Supervisors Chuck Kenney, Mickey Price and Camille Bremyer joined the session. Dallke moved to recess into executive session to discuss personnel/performance pursuant to K.S.A.75-4319b (1) for personnel matters of non-elected personnel with the board, Parmley

and County Clerk Tina Spencer were present for 15 minutes until 9:18 a.m. Gehring seconded and the motion carried 5-0.

Open session resumed with no action.

The meeting recessed then for five minutes.

Dallke moved to recess into executive session to discuss personnel/performance pursuant to K.S.A. 75-4319b (1) for personnel matters of non-elected personnel with the board, Parmley, Kenney and Spencer present for 20 minutes until 9:47 a.m. Becker seconded and the motion carried 4-0.

Open session resumed with the announcement of the resignation of Dir. Travis Parmley, effective immediately. Dallke asked for acceptance of the resignation by roll call. The board accepted the resignation 5-0.

Mueller moved to appoint Chuck Kenney as Interim Director. Gehring seconded and the motion carried 5-0.

Becker moved to hire Travis Parmley as Office Administrator/Transition Coordinator for 30 days or as needed. Gehring seconded and the motion carried 5-0.

The meeting then ended. The topic is on the agenda for Monday’s weekly commission meeting.
