County conducts business and department head reviews

The Marion County Board of Commissioners met for their regular weekly meeting on Monday and conducted regular business, including administrative business and department updates.

They also conducted department head reviews in executive session for Planning and Zoning Director Sharon Omstead, County Engineer Brice Goebel, County Appraiser Nicole Reid, Health Department Director Krista Schneider, Noxious Weeds/HHW/Transfer Station Director Josh Housman and EMS Director Travis Parmley. No action was taken.

Omstead met with the board and County Clerk Tina Spencer to present Case # PC22-03 and request final approval on a conditional use permit for Jeffery Tracy to have a second residence on his parcel to allow for an aging parent. The vote passed unanimously.

Omstead also requested approval for annual groundwater sampling at the Marion County closed landfill and for it to be analyzed by ES&D Environmental. The board approved the task order in the amount of $3,830.

Omstead followed up on a special event permit and received confirmation that liability insurance was obtained for the Florence Grand Prix.

The board and Omstead had a discussion about water leaks in the current Planning and Zoning building, and it was suggested that Omstead find out what repair costs would be and get back to the board.

Dispositive motions for the Stonebridge Appeal case are being submitted by May 27.

Goebel gave updates on road projects.
