?Deadline to file was Jan. 27
Following the Jan. 27 filing deadline in Marion County, contested races resulted in Florence, Centre, Goessel and Peabody for the spring general city/school election April 7.
But, City Clerk Tina Spencer said, a primary election March 3 won?t be necessary.
Contested races include:
? Incumbent Mary Shipman challenged by Robert Gayle for the mayor?s position in Florence.
? Incumbent Daniel Ludwig challenged by Paul Reilly Reid for council seat in Ward I of Florence.
? Dean Snelling, Jeffery W. Boese, Sam Griffin, Rollin Schmidt and James W. Wiens vying for three council seats in Goessel.
? Incumbent Larry Lar?sen challenged by Stephen Rose for the mayor?s position in Peabody.
? Travis Lynn Wilson, Joan M. Berg, Kenny Rogers, Megan Holt and Timothy Earl Caldwell in a race for three council seats in Peabody.
? Jesse E. Brunner and Amber Peterson vying for Position 1 for USD 397, Centre.
? Michelle D. Hajek and Terry Deines contending for Position 3 (Dickinson), USD 397.
? Alex Haines and Nick Kraus running for Position 2 (Chase), USD 408, Marion.
? Lori E. Kelsey and Ronald Duane Kirkpatrick Jr. contending for Position 3, USD 408.
Unopposed candidates
Candidates filing, but running unopposed include:
? Terry L. Eberhard, Glendon Parks, Alicia Morse and Timothy Earl Caldwell, four positions at-large, USD 398, Pea?body-Burns.
? Timothy Young, Position 1, USD 408, Marion.
? Jeremiah Lange, at-large 7 (Chase), USD 408.
? Timothy Kaufman, Roderick Wayne Koons, Jared Jost, positions 1, 2, 3 and 7, USD 410, Hillsboro.
? Kimberly Klein, Position 6, USD 410, which is an unexpired term of a member district for the remainder of the term.
? Darla Meysing, Position 1; Maynard Knepp, Position 2; Dan Miller, Position 3, and Kyle Funk, At-large, all for USD 411, Goessel.
? Mark Heiser, Position 2, and Anita Svoboda, at-large Position 7, both USD?397.
? Burns has no filings for mayor and Roland Boesker was only one of two filing for a council seat.
? Durham has five council seats open, but only four filings. They are Wendell D. Cook, Edward Flaming, R. Gene Duke and Alan M. Accardi.
? Lehigh has no filings for mayor or any of the five council seats.
? Lost Springs has no filings for mayor and of the five open council seats, only two people filed: Joseph A. Zinn and Jessica L. Moenning.
? Lincolnville had three open council seats and only one person filing, Joseph Vinduska.
? Ramona?s Byron Noeth filed for another term as mayor. Five of the open council seats had filings: James Thompson, Amber Lopez, Arthur Stroda, Ben S. Calvert and Alan J. Svoboda.
? Tampa had no filings for mayor. Of the two council seats open, Ty Peterson was the only person to file.
? Three candidates?John (Rocky) Hett, Darvin Mark?ley and Alan W. Hett?filed for the three open seats with the Cottonwood Valley Drain?age District. According to Spencer, this is a taxing district regarding drainage of the Cottonwood River.
Marion has no city races this spring, but voters will consider candidates for the school district, Spencer said.
Polling locations
Spencer said the following locations will be open April 7 for the general election: Burns Community Center, Florence Masonic Center, Hillsboro City Building, Goessel City Building, Marion Community Center, Peabody United Methodist Church, Tampa Senior Center and Lincolnville Community Center.
Early voting at the Marion County Courthouse can begin March 18, if the ballots are available, Spencer said.
But early voting must begin by March 31, according to the secretary of state?s office.
Advance voting by mail begins March 18.
