Goering, Brandt marry in Newton?
Rosie Goering of North Newton and Ray Brandt of Hillsboro were married Satur?day, Nov. 1.
The double-ring ceremony was officiated by Pastor Gordon Smith at Faith Mennonite Church in Newton.
A memorial candlelighting service was led by Eric Massanari.
Pastor Sara Dick of Shalom Mennonite Church followed with prayer.
Guest book attendant was Emily Luken, granddaughter of the groom, from Cincinnati, Ohio.
Musicians were Thomas Baty and Allie Baty of Missoula, Mont., who are grandchildren of the bride.
Organist was Helen Jantz of Newton.
The bride?s attendants were her children, Randall Goering of Newton, Steve Goering of Chicago, Ill. and Jan Baty of Missoula, Mont.
The groom?s attendants were his children, Mike Brandt of Hillsboro, Laurie Luken, Cincinnati, Ohio and Julie Anderson of Hillsboro.
The reception was catered by Joyce Barkman, sister of the groom.
Host and hostess were Joyce Barkman, sister of the groom, Rannie and Carol Goering of Newton, the bride?s son.
The bride is a retired registered nurse and the groom a retired farmer.
The couple are at home in North Newton.
Schmitt, Litke wedding in Wichita
Sheila Schmitt of Hillsboro and Glenn Litke of Marion were married July 19 in Wichita.
The wedding was at First Evangelical Free Church in Wichita with Pastor Mike Andrus officiating the double-ring ceremony.
The bride?s parents are Dean and Laureen Schmitt of Hudson, Iowa. The groom?s parents are Virgil and Phyllis Litke of Marion.
The organist was Debbie Black of Wichita and pianists were Brenda Jordan of Marion, sister of the groom, and the bride.
Vocalists included the groom and Holly Swartzendruber, a friend of the couple from Hillsboro.
Instrumentalists were Steve Hanneman, trumpet, of Peabody; Adrienne Dougherty, violin, Hillsboro; Susan Linnebur, violin, and Emily Baldridge, viola, both of Wichita and Susan Mayo, cello, Peabody, all friends of the couple.
The musical ensemble were Holly Swartzendruber of Hillsboro; Brenda Jordan, sister of the groom, Marion; Jennifer Jordan, niece of the groom, Haiti; Diane Schmidt, cousin of the groom, Enid, Okla.; Priscilla Litke, sister-in-law of the groom, and Grace Litke, niece of the groom, both of Port Washington, Wis.; Richard Cantwell, friend, and Jeremy Jordan, nephew of the groom, Hillsboro; Eric Litke, nephew of the groom, and Sid Litke, brother of the groom, Port Washington, Wis., and Bradley Vogel, friend, of Hillsboro.
The bride wore a mock two-piece satin gown from Ginza designs. Her bodice featured embroidery, beads and Swarovski crystals in a regal-crested design. The skirt was also embellished with the same pattern along the bottom hemline and the back of the cathedral-length train. The A-line silhouette skirt featured an inverted side pleat to enhance the fullness of the skirt. The bride also added thick tank-style sleeves to the bodice which also had bead work and embroidery.
The maid of honor was Shirley Shaw, sister of the bride, of Tulsa, Okla.
The bridesmaids were Sharee Schmitt of Olathe, and Sheryl Vallois of Paris, France, both sisters of the bride.
Flower girls were Hannah Shaw, niece of the bride, Tulsa; Alice Jordan, niece of the groom, Hillsboro, and Dora Ebenhack, niece of the groom, Haiti.
The best man was Sid Litke, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Jonathan Jordan, Newton, and Jeremy Jordan, Hillsboro, both nephews of the groom.
Ushers were Tim Shaw, brother-in-law of the bride, Tulsa; Brent Giese, friend of the bride, Olathe; Bertrand Vallois, brother-in-law of the bride, Paris, France; Mark Tollefson and Mike Wise, friends of the groom, both of Wichita.
Guest book attendants were Priscilla Litke, sister-in-law of the groom, Port Washington, Wis., and Laura Mallicoat, cousin of the bride, Solon, Iowa.
Jen Olson, cousin of the bride, Des Moines, Iowa, was in charge of gifts.
Hosts were Dave and Cindy Franson of Wichita.
Reception attendants included Marcia Janssen and Lea Olson, aunts of the bride, Hudson, Iowa, who served cake.
Caryl Wiebe and Carol Dirks, friends of the bride, Hillsboro, served the punch; Charlotte Litke, Sarah Litke, Johanna Litke and Grace Litke, nieces of the groom from Port Washington, Wis., were servers.
Kitchen helpers were Geneva Just, Kaylene Unruh, Sheri Marsh and Donna Hanneman, friends of the couple in Hillsboro and Peabody.
The couple spent their honeymoon in the southwest Colorado mountains. They will be residing in Hillsboro.
The bride is an associate professor of piano and piano pedagogy at Tabor College. She has a bachelor?s degree in music from Houghton College; a master?s in music from University of Colorado; a doctorate of music art from the University of Kansas.
The groom is a farmer in rural Marion County. He has a bachelor of arts degree from Tabor College.
