Jill Elizabeth Hannaford and Joel Douglas Versch were united in marriage July 16 at 6 p.m. July 16 at the First United Methodist Church in Manhattan with pastors Jeremiah Lange of Marion and Andy Hargrove of Manhattan officiating.

Parents of the couple are Roger and Sally Hannaford and Jim and Judy Versch, all of Marion.

Grandparents of the bride are Lavonne Hannaford and Gerald Harp, all of Marion, and the late Roger (Bud) Hannaford and Gene Ferguson and Luella Ferguson Harp. Grandparents of the groom are Virgil and Frances Versch of McPherson and Marvin and Norma Wymore of Cambridge, Neb., and the late Dolan and Pauline Frye.

The maid of honor was Amber Richmond, friend of the bride, and matron of honor was Kristina Helmer, sister-in-law of the bride. Bridesmaids were Karen Hannaford, sister-in-law of the bride and Lyndsay Bulk, Leann Klenda and Shaina Schafer, friends of the bride. Candlelighters were Chelsi Carlson, and Kendra Hancock, friend of the bride.

Best men for the groom were Jeff Bourbon and Matt Rhodes, friends of the groom. Groomsmen were Jason Matz and Braxton Skiles, friends of the groom, and Jesse and Jordan Versch, brothers of the groom. Ushers for the wedding were Mike Helmer and Scott Hannaford, brothers of the bride, Ryan Thomas, cousin of the bride, and Daniel Deckert, friend of the couple.

The flower girl was Hannah Versch, niece of the groom, and ringbearers were Hayden Versch, nephew of the groom, and Anderson Helmer, nephew of the bride. Guestbook attendants were the groom?s sisters, Sarah and Emilee Versch.

The colors for the wedding were black and fuchsia accented with fuchsia calla lilies.

A reception and dance followed the ceremony at the Kansas State Alumni Center. After introduction of the bride and groom to the Nebraska Husker fight song, the bride and groom and wedding party were surprised by a visit from Willie the Wildcat.

The bride is a 2005 graduate of Marion High School and a 2009 graduate of Kansas State University with a bachelor degree in business and marketing. She is employed at the Kansas State Foundation as a development coordinator for the Arts and Science division.

The groom graduated from Marion High School in 2003 and Kansas State University in 2008 with a bachelor of fine arts degree in graphic design. He is employed as a creative director for GTM Sportswear in Manhattan.

After a honeymoon to the Bahamas, the couple resides in Manhattan.

The groom?s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner July 15 in honor of the couple at the Cat House in Manhattan for the wedding party and guests.

The bride and groom opened gifts at a brunch July 17 in their honor at their home in Manhattan.
