Makovec, Schafer exchange vows
Shaina Makovec of Ramona and Cody Schafer of Moundridge exchanged wedding vows in a double-ring ceremony May 8 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen, with Father Paul Oborny officiating.
Parents of the couple are Gail and Marissa Makovec of Ramona and Gene Schafer of Tampa and Dee and Vaughn Juhnke of Moundridge. The bride?s grandparents are Herman and Audrey Kukuk of Perry, Okla., and Jane Makovec of Marion and the late Florian (Skeeter) Makovec. The groom?s grandparents are Perry and Irene Ratzloff of Hillsboro and the late George and Mollie Schafer.
The maid of honor was Sheila Makovec and matron of honor was Dana Makovec. Bridesmaids were Heather Palmer, Jill Hannaford and Megan Bockus.
The best men were Brandon Schrag and Preston Neufeld. Groomsmen were Nathan Funk, Chris Chisholm and CJ Hill.
Others in the wedding party included Mackenzie D?Albini, flower girl; Preston D?Albini, ringbearer; Simon Makovec and Dylan Juhnke, head ushers, and Brant Kukuk, Andrew Hajek, Greg Holub and Jon Christiansen, ushers.
Candlelighters were Adam Makovec, Cole Svboda, Houston Svboda and Jacob Jirak. Gift carriers were Simon and Dana Makovec, Sheila Makovec, Kelli Schafer and Dylan Juhnke.
The bride wore a white satin strapless ?pickup? ball gown with a clover cuff neckline accented with a diamond clover brooch, clover lace-up back and cascading sweep train. Her bouquet was white stargazer lilies and green spider mums with diamond accents and looped cascading grasses.
Music was from St. Isidore?s Choir in Manhattan, ceremony vocalist was Jeff Bina and organists were Eleanor Herbel and Derek Stuchlik.
The rehearsal dinner was held at the Elgin Hotel in Marion.
A reception, following the wedding, was held at the Herington Community Building with D.J. and the Justus Band performing. Jason and Shelley Plett and Jocynda Bolster and Jessi Riley were hosts and hostesses. Reception assistants were aunts and friends of the couple.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Centre High School and 2009 graduate of Kansas State University. She is employed as a traveling sales representative and marketer for a Texas company.
The groom is a 2000 graduate of Moundridge High School and 2005 graduate of Tabor College. He is a self-employed farmer and rancher.
The couple honeymooned in the Bahamas and returned home to their farm and ranch south of Tampa.
