TC Education Department to offer reading hour for kids

The Tabor College Education Department is offering a community reading hour for kids ages perk through third grade to come and read stories and do activities. The time will be run by education students and other student volunteers.

“It’s giving education students hands-on practice and connecting them to the community,” said Assistant Professor of Education Sarah Tham. “We will have reading and activities—basically just giving the kids a lot of different library space. I know they also have the local library, but this is a way to get kids on campus and introduce them to our education department.”

Tham said that it is fine for parents to drop kids off and use that hour to run errands or just have time to themselves unless the child is really young and needs parental assistance.

The reading times will be from 4-5 p.m. on Feb. 2 and 16, March 2 and 16 and April 6 and 20 at the

Education Commons of Tabor College (above the college library).
