Peabody Senior Center

February is well underway, but we still have a lot of activities coming. Most are marked on the menu but also watch my articles so you don?t miss out on any of the fun.

We had to cancel the making of Valentines on Feb. 6 because of the weather, but we hope to be in full force on Thursday, Feb 13. It will be just in time to deliver them to the nursing homes and make their day a little brighter.

Please make an effort to come and help us.

We will need extra help to make up for the day missed, and if you have any craft supplies, feel free to bring them too.

The Peabody Community Foundation had their annual pancake breakfast on Feb. 8 at the senior center and it was a success in spite of the cold and snow.

We received $500 toward the replacement of lighting in our building. We are very grateful for the assistance, and for all the benefits that the foundation does for our town. The foundation is diligent in its efforts.

Donovan Schmidt will be with us on Wednesday, Feb 19. He has a collection of depression glass to display and has a lot of information to share.

Bingo is Feb. 13. I am sure everyone is tired of being cooped up, but come eat lunch and play a few cards of Bingo. It will be fun.

Our local board meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Feb 17, and the Marion County Senior Center board meeting will be in Durham Friday, Feb 21. Reservations are not needed unless you plan to eat and then the reservation deadline is Feb. 19.

Come join us for events and a meal. The suggested price is $3.15 for those age 60 and older, and $5 for all others. It is a real bargain.

We are located at 106 N. Walnut and our phone number is 620-983-2226 with an answering machine attached and available to take requests day or night.

Looking forward to spring.
