Senior Scribbles (Sept. 9, 2009)

A group of Hillsboro seniors will be touring the Kansas Underground Salt Museum in Hutchinson Wednesday, Sept. 9, and will be having lunch and shopping in Yoder.

Foot care appointments are from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 10.

The USDA Commodities will be distributed starting at 9:30 a.m. at the center, 212 N. Main St., Friday, Sept. 11.

In addition, we will be enjoying a sing-a-long with pastor Plato and Ann Shepherd of Cottonwood Valley Independent Baptist Church after lunch.

Paul Jantzen will be showing slides of ?mailboxes? Monday, Sept. 14.

Looking ahead:

n Wednesday, Sept. 16 is our ?Carry-In Meal.? Fix your favorite dish, bring it and enjoy eating with other seniors. Following lunch, Nick King and Herb Bartel will be talking about ?wind farming.?

This will be an informative session that will be interesting to all of us.

n Marion County Health Department will be giving flu shots from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the center. Be sure to bring your insurance papers.

n National Checker?s Day is Wednesday, Sept. 23. Bring your checker?s game and come play for ?King or Queen of Checkers.?

n A group of seniors will be taking a bus trip Dec. 4-7 to enjoy ?Christmas Time in Branson.?
