Many people from our center and across the county attended the 2012 Senior Fair Sept. 18 at the Bicentennial Center in Salina. Wilma Gilmer was honored as Marion County pioneer as were those selected from other counties in the North Central-Flint Hills Area on Aging. Wilma was unable to attend.
We now have tickets for the county annual meeting Oct. 18 in Hillsboro. Marion Senior Center was given 20 tickets to sell at $5 each.

The first day of Autumn has come and gone and we will start seeing the days getting shorter and the temperatures getting cooler.
Football and baseball are dominating the television along with all the political information flying around, so it’s nice to have an escape.
For those who want to take a break from all that, the senior center is a good stop to enjoy a mid-day meal and good conversation with friends. We look forward to seeing you whenever you have the opportunity?whether it be daily or occasionally.
There will be a menu change Thursday, Sept. 27. Instead of the published menu, we will have barbecued chicken, macaroni salad, three-bean salad, bread, milk and fruit.
Peppernut season is upon us and we hope all the volunteers are ready and willing for another busy season of baking.
We will begin Oct. 15 after lunch and continue each Monday and Thursday until Nov. 15.
A ?Day in the Park? with the Peabody Historical Society is scheduled Sept. 29. We will have a booth and a drawing for a Kindle e-reader at the end of the day.
Everyone is encouraged to buy chances early at Peabody Senior Center, 106 Walnut or at the park. Tickets are $1.
October menus are available. and can be picked up at the senior center.
We have a new dietician who made some big changes on the menu. Come check it out.
Meals have a suggested price of $2.75 for those 60 and over and $4.50 for those who 59 and under.
