Senior Scribbles (Sept. 2, 2009)

Everyone is invited to Game Day Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the Hillsboro Senior Center. It?s a chance to come and enjoy a good lunch and stay for fun and fellowship.

The center will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in celebration of Labor Day.

Looking ahead:

n Distribution of USDA commodities will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11.

Also on Friday, Pastor and Ann Shephered will be in the center to lead us in a sing-a-long. This is a time we all enjoy and encourage others to come and enjoy with us.

n National Checkers Day is Wednesday, Sept. 23. We will be having a checkers play-off with winners playing winners. Bring your checkers and sit and play.

n Watch our ?Senior Scribble? for the announcement of a Thanksgiving dinner along with silent auction of the quilt that the center ladies have been working on. The silent auction will also have many other items available.

Lemon-baked fish (alternate: chicken nuggets), potato wedges, zucchini, wheat bread, milk.

THURSDAY, Sept. 3

Swiss steak with tomatoes, mashed potatoes, spinach, grapes, wheat bread, milk.

FRIDAY, Sept. 4

Oven-fried chicken, potato salad, corn, melon cup, sherbert, wheat roll, milk.

MONDAY, Sept. 7

Closed for Labor Day.

TUESDAY, Sept. 8

Chili dog and bun, baked beans, winter vegetable mix, fresh fruit cup, milk.

WEDNESDAY, Sept. 9

Beef and noodles, cole slaw, pears, Jell-O cake, wheat roll, milk.
