A Tai Chi demonstration will be held at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 13 by Gayla Ratzlaff, director of the Marion County Department on Aging.

Other activities this week include foot care at 9 a.m. Oct. 14 with Mary McFadden and at 12:30 p.m., also Thursday, Hospice of Reno County will do blood pressure checks and chair exercises. Anyone interested is also asked to bring in their medications for a medication checklist.

National Quilting Day is Oct. 15 and everyone is encouraged to bring in their favorite quilts at 12:30 p.m.

The center is planning a Chili Supper fundraising event from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 and then Dec. 4, we will be having a gala Christmas dinner at the Milk and Honey Bed and Breakfast. Tickets will be sold for the dinner and seating is limited to 30 people.

The Marion County Annual Meeting, celebrating 50 years, begins at 11 a.m. Oct. 21 at the Marion Senior Center.

For those looking for a Christmas gift idea, the center sells meal tickets. Groups can also use the center as a place for meals.

What a grand time we had last week when the Romeo riders (Retired Old Motorcyclists Eating Out) were here for lunch. They are planning on pie ala mode for their visit next year.

Young artist Ryan Soyez will be here Oct. 13 directly after a dinner honoring all October anniversaries.

Remember to address intercessory prayers on Sarita?s behalf as she under goes dental surgery later this week and during her recovery days next week.

Oct. 15 is the deadline to drop off your $5 registration fee for the annual dinner of the Senior Citizens of Marion County on this year commemorating their 50th anniversary, which will be held Oct. 21 for lunch.

A dress-up day to acknowledge National Mystery Month is Oct. 20, and our endeavor to slow the aging process by producing endorphins (brain chemicals called nature?s morphine) with laughter.

Marion County Health will be here from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 25 to give the 3-in-one flu shots for $30 (or file with Medicare).

Tabor Lunch Bunch is Oct. 26. Our dining room tables are now decorated for October with baskets of artificial fall flowers interspersed with Halloween figurines. Thanks to Wilma Gilmer who changes decorations monthly.

Shirley Bowers brought cake and ice cream to celebrate her milestone 80th birthday.

We sold four sets of embroidered tea towels to some folks from Tennessee who come by the Craft Corner once or twice a year. We now have no completed sets and we are really needing some people to embroider for us.

Vern and Arlene Bowers celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary at the center Oct. 5.

Gayla Ratzlaff demonstrated Tai Chi for us Oct. 6. She will set up a class at Marion Senior Center in November. Come in and sign up for whichever day and time you prefer.

Remember that reservations are required for the annual meeting dinner Oct. 21. The deadline is Oct. 15. Previously purchased meal tickets cannot be used.

Come join us for Senior Center Day Oct. 20 and remember flu shots will be given at the center from 10 a.m. until noon Oct. 15.
