PEABODY senior center

May is rapidly drawing to a close as is evident by the coming of a long Memorial Day weekend.

We will be closed here at the Senior Center on Monday, May 26, but we will have frozen meals available to those who need them.

We will be need to know by May 21 so we can deliver them Thursday.

These are good home made dinners that you just need to turn out on a plate and microwave. They, like all our meals, are delicious.

On June 2 and 3, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., we are offering the AARP Driver Safety Program.

You will not only refresh your driving skills and learn defensive driving techniques, but you could also receive a multi-year discount on your car insurance.

Call and sign up today at either the senior center or 620-947-3453. The cost is $15. for AARP members or $20. for non-members.

Do you love to play cards or games but need a place to meet and play. Come to the center on Tuesday game day. We have a few playing pinochle, but would invite any bridge players, bunko players, Mexican train dominoes players or otherwise to use our facility for your game pleasure.

June menus will be out soon, and in addition to regularly scheduled programming we will have some special events for your enjoyment.

School is out and we are still looking for additional volunteers. If someone you know would like to help in the kitchen on a volunteer basis, have them contact the center. They must be 14 years or older to be in the kitchen. We would love to have anyone who has a few hours available in the morning and would like to help.

Come join us at 106 N. Walnut at 11:45 a.m. for lunch each week day.

Be sure to call the day before or even during the night to reserve your meal. Meals are a suggested donation of $3.15 for Seniors and only $5 for all others.

A number of people pick up their meals each day so they can have lunch ready to eat and continue on with their errands.

For more information about the center or to make reservations, stop by the center at 106 N. Walnut St. in Peabody or call us at 620-983-2226.
