Senior Scribbles (March 23, 2010)

Hillsboro Senior Center

This week we have a driver safety course with Jona Baltzer from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, March 26 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 27. Call the senior center to sign up.

We have our birthday lunch and comedy DVD following lunch Monday, March 29.

In addition, we have our sign up for Easter dinner at noon April 1. To make reservations for any this or any lunch, call 947-2304.

We would also like to thank our volunteers who help us during the week. We couldn?t do it without their support and help.

The center has been averaging 40 or more for lunch and 15 home deliveries, along with people who pick up their lunch.

We welcome anyone for lunch.

Agape Senior Center

Agape Senior Center in Goessel has many activities planned in March.

A birthday dinner is today. Every Monday, starting at 11:15 a.m., the center schedules exercise time.

Marion Senior Center

This place was drenched in green on St. Patrick?s Day with Thelma Blosser wearing a green wig, Shirley Moore with a green bag and head dress and Keith Collett singing Irish songs. After lunch we all joined in with ?My Wild Irish Rose.? Everyone was Irish on March 17.

Henrietta Waner, head cook, told some of the issues address?ed at our training in Manhattan.

One of them is people asking for substitutions for liver or fish.

An efficient crew sacked up commodities after lunch March 11. They included Ivanlee Timm, Shirley Moore, Leonard Klassen, Evelyn Jewett and Harold Conyers.

Jon and Suzanne Thole picked up the commodities in Council Grove.

Bula Weigart brought in the first flower of spring on March 12.

Pearl Helmer celebrated her birthday with us March 16 and Evelyn Jewett provided treats March 17.

March 16 was St. Urho Day when the grasshoppers were removed from Finland as the snakes were removed from Ireland by St. Patrick.

Come join us during Holy Week March 31. Donna Becker of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice will present an appropriate program.
