Senior Scribbles (July 6, 2016)

hillsboro senior center

Chair massages are Thursday, July 7, and Alisa Schmidt, physician at the Hillsboro Clinic, will be talking after lunch, also on July 7.

An identity theft workshop is scheduled after lunch Friday, July 8. The program will last about 45 minutes.

The Hillsboro Senior Center is serving the Farmers Market meal Thursday, July 14, and all proceeds will go toward projects at the center. We are hoping for good weather that day.

We are still looking for Meals on Wheels drivers because we have some drivers ready to retire. The volunteer time is from about 10:30-11:30 a.m., and meals the day someone works are free. We will also train.

Volunteers are needed, too, from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Anyone interested can choose the days they work. Those volunteers will also get their meal free for helping.

It is so important that we get volunteers lined up, and so if you can spare the time, please call or stop by.

We want to thank everyone for their support—whether its by having lunch, volunteering, giving a program or offering to help in any number of other ways.

The suggested donation for our meals is $3.50 for those 60 and older and $5.25 for people 59 and under.

To reserve a meal, volunteer or make a donation, please call 620-947-2304 or come by the center at 212 N. Main St.

PEABODY senior center

It’s the end of one month and the beginning of the next, and we are halfway through the year.

The center was decorated for the July 4 weekend because of family reunions, cookouts and other fun activities. It was a fantastic brunch last Friday with good attendance. Many people had their own little get-together as a way of kicking off the holiday.

A quick reminder for what’s coming next week includes chair massages on July 11 with Rachel and the board meeting. On July 13 is grief share, birthday dinner, and blood pressure readings before and after dinner, if necessary.

The Senior Centers of Marion County meeting is July 15 and the business meeting is July 19.

Marion County Clerk Tina Spencer is here July 20 to show how we will need to use the iPad for registering to vote.

July menus are available and can be picked up at the Peabody Senior Center for those who haven’t already gotten one. Activities are also listed on the menu.

The suggested price for meals is $3.50 for people 60 and older, and $5.25 for those 59 and younger. Meals are available by home delivery, pick-up, or dine-in. Please call for a reservation. Frozen meals are also available.

For more information or to make a lunch reservation, call 620-983-2226 or stop by 106 N. Walnut St. Hope everyone had a great July 4 holiday weekend.
