We want to thank Joey Walter for all he has done at the center as a volunteer. We are blessed by his kindness.

As we settle into another month, Bonnie Sawyer from Marion Assisted Living will speak Wednesday, July 11.

We have a sign-up sheet for Tuesday, July 24, as we will be having a needle weaving class at 1:30 p.m., which will be lead by Janis Wright, our head cook. If you would like to join us or want more information, please call and we can add your name. It looks like it will be a great time.

Volunteers, please let us know and you can enjoy a great meal the day you help. We like to thank our volunteers who help keep our center going.

A big thank you to our Meals-On-Wheels drivers who get out in the hot weather to make the home deliveries.

And thank you to our board members for all you do, too, to keep our center going.

For more information on volunteering, programs, appointments or other center activities, call 620-947-2304. To make meal reservations, please call no later than 9 a.m. the day of the meal. We are located at 212 N. Main St.

We?re looking for those homegrown tomatoes to be brought in for us. Wilma Gilmer brought in her homegrown peaches this week. Some people just went ahead and ate one instead of taking them home.

We started July 2 doing some red, white and blue trivia, the colors being part of the answer.

We had special decorated placemats July 3. Juanita Ediger brought in Robin Nelson and Cathy Clyde the day before to work on them.

We read facts about the Declaration of Independence and Shirley Bowers played patriotic music on the piano.

Following lunch we had a presentation on ?Ethiopia Reads? given by Larry Ziemmermann and Charlie Nordquist. They had a goal of gathering 1001 children?s books for Ethiopia and ended up with 4,000.

This was a project of Happy Hustlers 4-H club and involved Marion Elementary School. Hap Waddell was part of this group and is now on a trip to Ethiopia with his mom.

The Wellness Clinic will be held July 11.

We will host the North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging board meeting July 17, which will meet in the Marion Community Center and eat lunch at the Senior Center.
