Senior Scribbles (February 28, 2018)

HILLSBORO senior center

We want to thank everyone for understanding we where closed two days last week during the icy weather.

Anytime USD 410 is closed because of winter weather, the senior center will be closed, too.

We do put it on all three local television stations, but they run the schools first, and then the stations show the business.

Rule of thumb is that if the Hillsboro School District closes, we are closed as well.

We have a lot of programs scheduled for March starting Friday, March 2, with Jean and Arnie Boyed singing from Chapman. They will sing Irish songs. On Friday, March 9, our Australian Sky and Weather pair will show their beautiful pictures again. We will also have our jam session on Thursday March 8 after the noon meal. We also play games and fellowship every Monday after the noon meal and we play bingo Wednes- days after the noon meal, too.

We hope you can join us soon for a meal. We need volunteers from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. You get a meal the day you help, so call the center with more information at 947-2304. we will draw the winner of the motorcycle on Monday March 12. You can still purchase tickets until then. All money goes toward the senior center. We thank everyone for all your support to our center.

We are also having a breakfast fundraiser from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday March 10. We will have waffles and Hillsboro sausage by donation only, so come help support our center.

For more information, or to find out about volunteering or program ideas, call 620-947-2304 or stop by 212 N. Main St., Hillsboro. You get a meal the day you help.

Pastor Roger Charles is planned giving Lenten devotion Feb. 26-27, and Thursday, March 1-2, Myrta Billings will give a program on “Eat Smart and Live Smart.”

Volunteers, we need you one day a week for kitchen duties or being a Meals On Wheels driver. Lunch is provided. If interested, call.
