We want to thank the Hillsboro Community Foundation for the $2,500 grant that will help get our new countertops in the kitchen.

We hope to have them done within the next couple of months.

Another big thank you goes to the Et Cetera Shop for donating a computer so that people can check emails or learn how to use a computer.

Remember anyone at any age can have lunch. The suggested donation for those age 60 and over is $3.15 and people age 59 and under is $5. It?s certainly a great meal deal.

As always, we thank everyone for their support.

We celebrated Valentine?s Day, wearing red, enjoying the special placemats made by the Happy Hustler?s 4-H members and having a quiz on romantic movie quotes.

It was also Jerry Higgins? birthday.

We celebrated Jerry Kline?s birthday Monday with cake brought in by wife Norma.

The celebrations continued Feb. 18 with Virginia Downing?s birthday. She provided Valentine cookies. We called St. Luke Living Center to sing, ?Happy Birthday,? to Ivanlee Timm, from all of us.

Senior Center Day was on Feb. 19. The business meeting was conducted by Sue Clough. She explained how her experience boxing commodities here helped in stuffing convention bags on her recent trip to St. Louis.

Our program was given by Gerry Henderson, vocalist, and Keith Allison, pianist.

It consisted of familiar love songs.

Come join us March 5. There will be a program following lunch.

We are gearing up for March here at the center, and we have a lot planned.

Watch my scribbles to keep up with everything going on.

Ash Wednesday is Wednesday, March 5, an important date in the Christian world marking the beginning of the Easter celebration.

We will once again be privileged to have our area ministers and leaders present a Lenten message each Wednesday after lunch throughout the season.

Jim Pohlman will have the devotion March 5 and Marilyn Cox will be here March 12.

Everyone is welcome to come and eat with us and stay for the devotion, or if they are rushed, they might also come by for the devotional.

World Day of Prayer will be held at the senior center on Friday, March 7. This is held the first Friday in March each year and will be lead by Linda Eden. Please join us for this inspiring time.

The birthday dinner for March is March 11. Make reservations early so there will be plenty of our cook, Kim Nellans? oven-fried chicken. This is always a wonderful meal and good time.

Meals are a suggested donation of $3.15 for those age 60 or older, and only $5 for everyone under age 60.

We do need to know the day before if you plan to eat with us, so please call at 983-2226. If it is after hours, leave a message and we will get it when we come in the morning.
