Senior Scribbles (December 8, 2015)

Everyone is welcome to stop by and play bingo Dec. 9. Our jam session is Dec. 10 and it?s a lot of fun.

For those wanting footcare, we encourage them to come by Tuesday, Dec. 15. Haris Zafar is here Dec. 16 to do hearing aid checks.

The center?s Christmas dinner is Friday, Dec. 18, and David Vogel will provide entertainment by singing to everyone. We can no longer take reservations because we are filled to capacity, but in case someone cancels, please call and we can write your name down.

Every Monday is games and fellowship after the noon meal. Volunteers are needed, and if interested, please let us know by calling or going to the center.

For someone who is hard to buy for, meal tickets make a great gift. We also want to express our gratitude for those who have donated to the center, and we also want to thank Barkman Honey for its matching donation

We hope to see you soon at the center.

For more information or to make reservations, call 620-947-2304 or stop by 212 N. Main St. between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

It?s that time of year again to remind readers to watch for the Marion School District?s closing announcement on television if the weather gets bad.

Our policy is to close if the local Marion schools are closed.

This is not the Area Agency policy so closing days must be made up by the senior centers.

Sue Clough returned from her trip to Las Vegas Dec. 1, and told us about her visit to a lion sanctuary.

The lions there are all offspring of the MGM lion.

We welcomed the return of the ?Lunch Bunch,? former Marion High School friends who come in monthly to visit and eat with us.

Come join us for Senior Center Day on Dec. 16. Following lunch, the MHS singers will perform.

For more information or to make a reservation, call 620-382-2942, or stop by 309 S. Third St., Marion.

The center is in full swing for the Christmas season, and I would like to say, ?thank you,? to all the ladies and gentlemen that stayed after lunch Dec 1 to decorate. You did an awesome job and it is much appreciated by all.

Each year the Peabody Senior Center sponsors the Tour of Lights.

If you would like to participate in the tour the bus will pick people up at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 at the center. The bus will tour the town and see the lights and then return to the center for refreshments. Our birthday dinner is Wednesday, Dec. 9, and it is our traditional oven-fried chicken with all the trimmings. It is a delicious day to eat with us and visit with your friends or neighbors or both. Welcome back Randolph Whitely, medical doctor. We have missed him while he was deployed, but are anticipating the return of the monthly, ?Dinner with the Doc.? He provides very up-to-date and informative news for our health and well being. Whitely will be here Dec. 16 for lunch and then present after the mid day meal. Make your reservations early so you can attend.

Call us at 983-2226 or come by 106 N. Walnut. We would love to hear from you. ?Ruth Lott, site manager
