Senior Scribbles (December 27, 2017)

HILLSBORO senior center

We hope everyone had a merry Christmas. We will be having Show-and-Tell Friday, Dec. 29, so bring anything to share. We will be closed Monday, Jan. 1, for the New Year’s holiday.

We will be selling tickets through January for the motorcycle. All proceeds go to the senior center. It is for a great cause. We also have someone who will match up to $500 to help us reach our goal of 300 tickets. We are at 102 right now, so we have a ways to go. Please come by a ticket to help our center.

We will be having footcare Tuesday, Jan. 2. Call for an appointment time. We also need volunteers. Call the center for more information.

We hope you will join us in the new year. Any age can come eat with us. The suggested donation for over age 60 is $3.50 and age 59 and under is $5.25, which are great prices for a great meal deal.

If anyone has a program they would like to share with us, let us know. You get a meal the day you help. We look forward to seeing you at the center. Many blessings.

We hosted the Senior Citizens of Marion County board meeting Dec. 15. Sue Clough sang as a treat. She was accompanied by Keith Allison. Suzanne Thole brought treats that day for her birthday.

Senior Center Day was Dec. 20 with Sue Clough conducting the business meeting. It was also Janey Westerman’s birthday, and she brought treats. Cleora McClaskey provided a couple of cakes for our party. We had a sing-a-long after lunch with Sue Clough and Keith Allison.

We are closed New Year’s Day. Join us Jan. 3 when the program will be given by Dawn Miller of Angels Care Home Health.

Meals are $3.50 for age 60-plus and $5.25 for age 59 and under.
