Senior Scribbles (December 23, 2015)

HILLSBORO SENIOR CENTER

I would like to thank everyone for all your prayers and kindness for me and my family during the passing of our dad, Bob Hein. It has helped us get through this difficult time, but we know he is in a better place now and at peace and with our mom.

This week we have a short week because of the holidays. We are here Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, but will be closed Thursday and Friday for the Christmas holiday.

If you ordered a frozen meal, you will need to pick that it up by Wednesday, Dec. 23.

We will have our birthday dinner at noon, Monday, Dec. 28. The January menus are out, so stop by to pick one. We hope you can join us soon or in the new year. We hope everyone has a happy holiday season.

We also want to thank everyone for your donations to our center. It has been a blessing to help keep our center going.

Regular hours for the center are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information or to make reservations, call 620-947-2304 or stop by 212 N. Main St. between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

MARION SENIOR CENTER

We had a big day Dec. 16, which was Senior Center Day. It was also the day Aulne United Methodist Church came to celebrate December birthdays. Those honored were Carol Hett, Jack Williams and pastor Jeff Lee.

Before lunch, Sue Clough, president of Marion Senior Center, conducted the business meeting. After lunch the Marion High School Singers, directed by Thomas Labotte, performed.

We have the walking sticks for sale highlighted in the Marion Record article about Stuart Hammond, who carves them.

We welcome Margie Sandwell as a wintertime meal delivery driver.

Come join us Dec. 30 when the Singing Sisters, Lydia and Kimberley Vanderzanden, will perform.

Look ahead to Elvis?s birthday in 2016 when Marc Baker will be here at 7 p.m. Jan. 7. He provides an excellent show.

PEABODY SENIOR CENTER

We at the Peabody Senior Center want to wish you and yours a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. The time has almost arrived for the festivities and then it will be gone for another year. Amazing how that happens.

Don’t forget to sign up for Brunch at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec 24 . It will be breakfast casserole and that is always delicious.

Then you will want be on the list for Bob and the Boys. They will be playing for us Thursday, Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve Day right after lunch. That will be a fun way to end up the year, good pizza and good entertainment.

We always invite you to come and join us at the Peabody Senior Center for good food and good fellowship. Meals are a suggested $3.50 for those that are 60 and above, and only $5.00 for all others. Either way it is a bargain.
