Senior Scribbles (Aug. 25, 2010)

hillsboro senior center

Everyone is grateful for the rain and cooler temperatures late last week.

Remember to mark your calendars for 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, for the center?s ice cream social and fundraising event with special instrumental music by Bob Delk & the Boys from Hillsboro.

Come and support our center for great music and fellowship.

A representative from Hospice, Rhona Schler, will visit the center at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 25. She will be talking about advance directives and will have forms for those interested.

In celebration of everyone who has a birthday in August, the center is having its birthday lunch Aug. 30.

I would also like to thank all our volunteers and also our head cook, Betty Gayle, for doing a great job.

Drivers are needed for the ?meals on wheels? program, and will be reimbursed for mileage through the North Central Area Agency on Aging in Manhattan.

Volunteers are needed from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. to help set tables and clean up after lunch. Anyone volunteering to help will also get a great lunch.

Everyone is encouraged to have lunch and stay for any of the programs. Reservations are due by 9 a.m. the day of the meal.

Come and join us for lunch and help us keep our numbers up to keep the center open.

The cost is $2.75 for anyone 60 and older and $4.50 for those under 60. It?s a great price for a hot meal and fellowship.

Menus are also available on local cable channel two each week.
