Mark your calendars for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27 for the center?s ice cream social fundraising event and special instrumental music by Bob Delk & the Boys from Hillsboro.

Come and support our center, it will be a great time.

Programs for the remainder of August include Nancy Pihl from the Marion County Extension office at 12:30 p.m. today to talk about nutrition. At 11 a.m., a hearing aid check is available with Harris Zafar, Audiology and Hearing Aid Services in Wichita.

A representative from Hospice, Rhona Schler, will visit the center at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 25. She will be talking about advance directives and will have forms for those interested.

Everyone is encouraged to have lunch and stay for any of the programs. Reservations are due by 9 a.m. the day of the meal.

The cost is $2.75 for anyone 60 and older and $4.50 for those under 60. It?s a great price for a hot meal.

Marion senior center

Marion Senior Center is ?cool? both temperature-wise and because of the people who eat here. We?re hoping some ?cool? people will volunteer, either in the dining room or to deliver ?meals on wheels.? Drivers may receive mileage reimbursement, if they choose.

Our program for Aug. 11 went from Plan A to Plan C. Janet Blue was going to sing, but, her karaoke machine needs repair. She will be here later on. Plan B from Chase County had to cancel. Plan C came through with a video on the Rogue River in Oregon provided by Larry and Thelma Blosser.

Join us for lunch Aug. 25. The program will be provided by Merle Ecklund and his accordion and Deb Harrington, vocalist. For more information or to make a lunch reservation, due by 9 a.m. the day of the meal, call 620-382-2942 or stop by the center, 309 S. Third St.
