Senior Scribbles (April 9th, 2014)

hillsboro senior center

Topping the list of things to do Wednesday, April 9, will be Bingo.

In addition, there will be a celebration of volunteers, with an appreciation event Thursday, April 10, followed by ?Show ?n Tell.?

This appreciation event is one way of thanking all our volunteers, Meals on Wheels drivers and board members, who work hard to keep the center going.

All of these people are a blessing.

Everyone is encouraged Friday to bring Easter items to share or other spring-related articles with them. Palm Sunday is April 13.

For those unable to get their reservation to us in time, we apologize that we have no more room for Easter dinner in the dining room.

If someone would like to pick up dinner, we are taking orders, but please call soon.

Haris Zafar of Wichita will be at the center at 11:15 a.m. April 16 for hearing aid checks.

Volunteers are needed at the center and for those who can find time to give a couple of hours, please call us.

We also hope to see others join us for lunch. Anyone at any age can enjoy a meal with suggested prices for those age 60 and over $3.15. Anyone 59 and under pays $5.

We thank everyone who supports our center.

We are here from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are located at 212 N. Main St., or call 620-947-2304.

April menus are out, and we encourage everyone to stop by the center and pick one up, or continue to watch the newspaper for the week’s menu.

The suggested price for meals is $3.15 for seniors or $5 for those who haven?t reached the senior discount age.

We also offer pick-up meals for those who prefer to drop by and pick up a meal on their lunch hour.

Anyone interested in this option can choose either 10:45 a.m. or noon. Let us know when you sign up or call in.

We are having a make-up meal at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, after Easter.

It will be pizza. Make sure to mark the date on the calendar. We must make up the meal when we had to be closed for the new faucet and sprayer that was installed in our kitchen.

The make-up meal will require reservations, so call in as soon as you can. Our cook, Kim Nellans, will be sure to have enough for all.
