Senior Scribbles (April 7, 2010)

Hillsboro Senior Center

We had a great turnout for our Easter dinner with more than 100 meals served. Everyone enjoyed the special music by Jona Baltzer.

This week, we have foot care with Mary McFadden Thursday, April 8, and at 12:30 p.m. our guest speaker will be Superintendent Steve Noble, USD 410-Durham-Hillsboro-Lehigh.

Donna Becker, with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, will be presenting, ?Life is Like a Box of Chocolates…,? at 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 12.

Andy Kleinsasser with the National Weather Service office will be the guest speaker at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 13.

Come and join us for programs and a great meal.

Pasta, beef and tomato casserole, lettuce with tomatoes and salad dressing, wheat roll, pistachio salad, milk.

Oven-fried chicken, potato salad, mixed vegetables, wheat bread, cinnamon apples, milk.

Turkey tetrazzini, stewed tomatoes, wheat bread, Mandarin oranges, milk.

GOESSEL Senior Center

Agape Senior Center in Goessel will have its anniversary dinner April 14.

The center is planning short programs of interest at noon on Wednesdays.

April?s activities include Bingo, today (April 7); gardening, April 14; Volunteer Day, April 21; and antiques, April 28.

We would like to have your suggestions for these programs.

The center welcomes everyone for lunch and we look forward to seeing you.

We appreciate all those who join us.

Marion Senior Center

March is over, April is here, and there are sunny days ahead.

Fred Puttroff has a new grandson and he shared his photo on the senior center computer.

We all were Kansas State fans with the college logo on napkins March 26. There were two K-State door prizes, won by Jerry Harp and Luella Popp. (It was) fun while it lasted.

An efficient crew came in to assemble the Marion County Senior Citizens Newsletter March 29.

They included Ivanlee and Mary Ann Timm, Norma Woerz, Evelyn Jewett, Harvey Wells, Erme Lespagnard, Jane Makovec, Nora Richter, Elsie Reiswig, Sue Clough, Beulah Weigart, Lanell Hett and Gayla Ratzlaff.

Keith Holtsclaw brought in artwork to display on our easel.

We have a set of embroidered tea towels for sale with chocolate designs on each one. Come see this set, or pick some to embroider on your own time.

Norine Holtsclaw brought in a vase of daffodils to share.

Marilyn Geis announced receiving partial funding to install automatic openers on our front doors March 31.

Donna Becker, with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, presented ?Reflections on Holy Week.?
