Senior Scribbles (April 20, 2011)

HILLSBORO SENIOR CENTER

We had a great turnout for our volunteer luncheon. Everyone got to say, ?thank you,? to all our volunteers for all they do at our center.

Our Easter dinner was Tuesday and a lot of people signed up.

Haris Zafar will be here at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, to do hearing checks.

Foot care begins at 9 a.m. April 21 with Mary McFadden. Our birthday dinner to celebrate all April birthdays is April 25.

I would like to thank all our board members for their hard work and are head cook for doing a great job.

We are a great team and want to express our gratitude to everyone who helps support the senior center.

GOESSEL SENIOR CENTER

We welcome Vera Green to our community and to our AGAPE Senior Center. She is our new co-director and is willing to enjoy our friendships and help make our senior center a place where we can eat and enjoy each other?s company.

Activities this week include:

? Gail Graber, chaplain at Bethesda Home will share an Easter meditation with us after lunch on April 20.

? April 27 at 12:30 Kirby Goering from Moundridge will tell about the wooden wheelchairs he makes at 12:30 p.m. April 27.

? Center guests are asked to come prepared May 4 to join the fun as we focus on humor. Laughter is the best medicine you can take.

For meal reservations, call 620-367-2275 the day before you want to come or have it brought to you. Meals are served at noon Monday through Friday.

What a roller coaster ride this Kansas weather has been this past week! One thing about it, we can never complain about being “boring.?

We will have the final service of the Lenten series with Pastor Robert Kloth of the Lutheran Church Wednesday, April 20.

Our holiday Brunch is at 9:30 a.m. Good Friday, April 22. Please plan on joining us. Kim always fixes a wonderful breakfast meal and we will also be honoring and thanking our volunteers from the past year.

We like to do this because certainly without volunteers we could not possibly be able to serve the community with meals and information and entertainment. We appreciate every one of our faithful volunteers.

Monthly Bingo is April 26, which is rescheduled from the first Tuesday of the month because of elections.

Jeremy Armstrong, chief executive officer of St. Luke Hospital and Mike Norris, marketing manager, will talk about hospital renovations April 27. to tell us all about the renovations at St. Luke’s and answer any questions we might have.
