Senior Scribbles (8-29-18)

HILLSBORO senior center

We have the September menus ready.

Just a reminder we are closed on Monday, Sept 3rd for the Labor Day holiday.

Well, we come to the last week of August and we hope we will have cooler temps coming soon.

We hope you can join us at the center for a meal soon. If you know of someone to invite, please do as we love to see new faces at our center. We have great fellowship.

We need volunteers to help over lunch from 11:15am -1:15pm if you can help a day or more please let us know call for more information 620-947-2304. Men and women can help volunteer, and if you are 14 years or older you can volunteer. We hope we can get more soon. We all have a great time.

We want to thank everyone for your support to our center. We have a great center and want to keep it going for years to come. We run off of donations only to pay our bills and repairs etc. so we need the donations to keepcoming.

Donation for the meal is $3.50 for 60 and over and $5.25 for 59 and under. That goes for the food cost and also pays our head cook and site manger miniuim wage.

If you like to donate to our center we have a basket for that money and that help our center out the NCFHAAA, but it does not help pay for utility bills or repairs.

We are greatfull for all the support we have. Also, if anyone knows of anyone who would like to shovel snow around our doors and also put ice melt out for us please let us know. We have someone to do our big parking lot, but they don’t get the doors and sidewalk so please let us know or put the word out .

Can you believe this is the last week of August? Kids are back in school. Gardens are at their prime. Where did our summers go?

Wednesday, Aug. 29, Westview Manor will be bringing in volunteers to help with the kitchen and dining. Their willingness to volunteer is very much appreciated. We are still in need of kitchen volunteers.

We invite you to celebrate a Labor Day brunch at 9:30 a.m. this Friday, Aug 31. We will be serving biscuits and gravy or scrambled eggs, great cinnamon rolls or blueberry muffins. Be sure to come and enjoy this meal with us. The coffee pot is always on.

Monday, Sept 3, the center will be closed for Labor Day.

For our lunch on Tuesday, Sept 4 we are having an indoor picnic with chicken salad sandwhich, potato salad, baked beans and blueberry muffins. What a way to end Labor Day. Make sure to call in your reservation.
