HILLSBORO SENIOR CENTER

We want to thank everyone who came out to our fundraiser Friday night. We are greatful for the support to our center.

This week we will have Salem Home coming to talk on Tuesday, Aug 20.

Dr. Zafar is here at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21 for hearing aid checkups. We will also play bingo after the noon meal that day.

We will have show and tell on Friday, Aug 23. Bring anything to share.

Our birthday dinner is at noon on Monday, Aug. 26 for all our August birthdays.

We will be closed on Monday, Sept 2 for the Labor Day holiday.

It’s already going to be September soon. This year is going by fast again.

We are needing volunteers at the center and meals on wheels drivers. Call 620-947-2304 for more information.

We are working on the September menus so we will get them out soon.

We want to thank all our wonderful volunteers and our board members and meals on wheels drivers for all their help and a big thank you to our great cook Kendra.

She is cooking for Marion Senior Center, too, so she does over 150 meals a day. Give her a big hug and thank you for all she does, because we love her here.

Curious about all the vehicles parked north in our lot? That means people are off on a tour with Heartland Travel.

Judy Thompson, the Vet Rep was here on the Aug 13. She comes every other month, and no appointment is needed.

Our program on Aug 14 was given by Elaine McAllister. She lives in Hillsboro and wrote a book about celebrating grandparenting.

Come join us on the Aug 18 when a program on foster grandparenting will be given by the Butler County Department on Aging.

Summer is almost over and Labor Day will be here soon.

Don’t forget that school started Tuesday, Aug 20. Please watch out for the children walking, riding their bikes or getting on or off the school buses.

We had our Birthday Dinner last Wednesday with Sonja Koslowsky at the piano, Rachel Gfeller giving chair massages, and Peabody Health and Rehab Nurse took our blood pressure. Paula Edmunds brought 4 seniors from Peabody Health and Rehab to take part in the birthday celebration,

A Make-Up Meal will be at 5 p.m. this Thursday, Aug 22.

Our Holiday Brunch will be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 30. We will be serving a Breakfast Casserole, Cinnamon Roll or Muffin, Fruit, and milk.

Our September menus are ready. You are welcome to come by and pick one up. Did you know that a meal can be picked up, that a meal can be delivered, or better yet, you can come in and dine with friends?

Meals are $3.50 for 60+ and $5,25 for 59 and under, Be sure to call and make a reservation, Take advantage of our Meals on Wheels program, please call for information (620-983-2226).

Looking for something to do? We always need volunteers so if you can spare a couple of hours a week, that would be a tremendous help.
