Senior Scribbles (7-24-19)

HILLSBORO senior center

We had a great turn out for our farmers market meal. We served about 135 people. Thank you everyone for coming out in the heat to support our center.

This week the Marion County Fair starts.

We will have fair trivia on Tuesday, July 23.

Fair show and tell is on Friday, July 26. Bring fair memories to share with us.

Our birthday dinner is on Monday, July 29.

Tristen from the Marion Co ext. office will be talking after lunch on July 31.

We still need more volunteers and meals on wheels drivers. If you would like to help out with either one, let us know at 620-947-2304 or stop by the center Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

If anyone has program ideas, let us know.

We want to thank our board members and volunteers and meals on wheels drivers for all you help at our center. You are all a blessing to us.

The new menus will be out this week.

We had a nice surprise on July 12 when Vickie and Bill Kaempfe came in with two cakes for us, one chocolate and one with peanut butter frosting

We always need volunteers as the kitchen, even with no actual cooking. There are daily preparations and dishes to wash.

We will celebrate National Day of the Cowboy on July 26. Remember the bandana everyone received last year. Wear it with your cowboy hat and cowboy boots. Being cowboy poetry to share.

Peabody senior center

Even though we had a set back with the flood in June, we are working hard to get back to normal.

We are still serving meals at the Center as well as delivering Meals on Wheels. Our volunteers are awesome, we appreciate all the help they give us.

Last week, we served several diners from Peabody Health and Rehab and we also had a Make Up Meal on Thursday evening.

Bring a friend, let us serve you a meal, and just enjoy the company. We look forward to seeing you. Meals are $3.50 for 60+ and $5.25 for 59 and under. Be sure to call and make a reservation.

Take advantage of our Meals on Wheels program, please call for information (620-983-2226).
