HILLSBORO senior center
This week we have bingo on Wednesday after the noon meal.
Our jam session is on Thursday, May 9.
Then the graduations start for high schools and college. Our oldest grandson graduates on Saturday, May 11 from Goddard High School. A big accomplishment for him. We are very proud grandparents.
We have show and tell on May 10. Bring Mothers Day memories to share.
We are looking for a sub cook to fill in when our cook needs off or is ill. Call the center for more info at 620-947-2304.
We are also looking for a substitute dishwasher, too. We also need volunteers so let us know if you could help. You can be 14 and older to help volunteer.
We want to thank everyone for your support to our center. I would like to thank everyone for your help and support while I am healing from my fall and fractured right elbow hard with only one arm but I am blessed with many people to help. Thank you so much.

May Day has come and gone but we had a couple of surprises. Marilyn Jones and Virginia Skinner brought the center several beautiful floral arrangements for the diners to enjoy and even take one home. The flowers were used at the Lutheran church where a vocal concert led by Virginia was held. Then I noticed that someone left a beautiful flower setting on my car. I saw it when I left to come home after a very busy day. It lifted my spirit and just made my day. Thank you so much.
The birthday dinner will be on Wednesday, May 8. Rachel Gfelter will be giving chair massages, Sonja Koslowsky playing the piano and Peabody Health and Rehab will be here to give blood pressure readings.
The board meeting will be on May 13.
Grief Share will be at 3 p.m. on May 14.
There will be a make-up meal, serving Sloppy Joes, at 5:30 p.m. on May 16. Be sure to call and make a reservation. We will still have our lunch served at regular time.
May menus are ready so if you don’t already have one, stop on by and pick one up.
Meals are $3.50 for 60+ and $5.25 for 59 and under. Be sure to call and make a reservation. Take advantage of our Meals on Wheels program, please call for information (620-983-2226).
Volunteers are always needed so if you can spare a couple of hours, once a week, stop on by. It’s always nice to have back up volunteers to be a sub., please keep us in mind. Lots of graduations and vacations are in the near future so back-ups will be needed.
Happy Mothers Day!
