Marion senior center

We celebrated National Day of the Cowboy July 25.

We had cowboy poetry interspersed with cowboy songs, closing with, ?Home on the Range.?

Poetry readers were Marilyn Cox, Harold Triggs, Larry Blosser, Shirley Moore, Virginia Hammond, Prudy Hanson, Estelle McCarty, Connie Fisher and Janet Bryant.

Adding to the atmosphere of diners wearing cowboy outfits was the cardboard cutout of John Wayne, shared by Judy Dannenfelser and a cowgirl doll brought by Phyllis Soyez. Shirley Bowers was the pianist.

We welcomed residents of Hilltop Manor July 30 and the Lincolnville Ladies.

They included Maxine Barton, Marilyn Montgomery, Ruth Tajchman, Twilla Baker and Alta Huffington.

Our program was given by Sherry Dreier, who showed her quilts.

She once lived in Marion as Sherry Mulvenon.

Come join us Aug. 13. Judy Thompson will give a presentation about her work as Veteran?s service representative. She will then see veterans who need her help following the program.

She will not be here Aug. 12 as previously reported.

For more information or lunch reservations, call 620-382-2942 by 9 a.m. the day of the meal. We are located at 309 S. Third St.
