Senior Scribbles (2-6-19)

HILLSBORO senior center

We hope everyone had a great weekend.

This week we have games and fellowship on Monday after the noon meal.

We will play bingo on Wednesday.

After the noon meal on Wednesday and on Friday, Feb. 8 we will have show & tell. Bring Valentines day items to share.

If anyone has any ideas for programs let us know.

We also want to thank the Hillsboro Community Foundation for our $2,000 grant we are getting for a proofer/warmer for our cook for rising bread. She is very happy for that.

We have meal tickets you can purchase for a Valentines gift idea for your loved ones.

We hope you will join us soon at the senior center.

We also offer meals on wheels, pick ups, etc. The suggested donation for meals is 60 and over $3.50 and anyone younger then 60 is $5.25.

We celebrated Kansas Day on January 29 with sunflower pins, earrings and t-shirts. There was a quiz handed out and trivia. Sue Clough led us in Home on the Range with Keith Allison as pianist.

Shirley Bowers found the vases with sunflowers and put them on the tables. Shirley Moore announced door prizes won by Bea Kelsey and Leland Albrecht.

Come join us on Feb. 13 for a musical program by Sue Clough and Keith Allison. They will get us in the mood for Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14. Wear red!

Peabody senior center

We’ve had a very busy week. Gayla was here Tuesday morning helping several seniors with LIEAP, taxes and answering questions.

Kansas Day was celebrated with Kansas designed sugar cookies, brownies and lots of history.

Peabody Health and Rehab sent Sarah and Allison on Wednesday, Jan. 30 to do a session of therapy exercise. They instructed several of us seniors. It was very invigorating. The next class will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Feb. 6 and 20. There is no charge. Just come and have fun with us.

We had a ground hog day brunch and served several seniors.

We will have our board meeting on Monday, Feb. 11.

Our birthday dinner will be on Feb. 13. Dr. Whitely will be here. Sonja Koslowsky will play piano. Peabody Health and Rehab will also be here to do blood pressures.

Be sure to come in and pick up a February menu. Enjoy a cup of coffee, stay for lunch and visit with your friends.

Meals are $3.50 for 60 and over and $5.25 for 59 and under. Be sure to call and make a reservation.

Take advantage of our Meals on Wheels program. Please call 620-983-2226 for information.
