PEABODY senior center

We are pleased to announce we do have a new cook at the Peabody Senior Center.

Frances Riegel started Monday and trained all week with Kim Nellans, our former cook. We are happy to have her join our staff. We had no break in service, so keep on coming down at 11:45 a.m. each weekday to eat lunch with us.

April is rapidly drawing to a close, and May is here. It is going to be a blessing to get some rain, but not the storms.

The May birthday dinner will be May 6. Be sure to join us and celebrate those having birthdays during the month of May.

Gentiva Hospice will be presenting that day.

Don?t forget Mother?s Day on May 11, and Armed Services Day May 18.

We will have our local monthly board meeting at 9:30 a.m. May 12, followed by the Senior Citizens of Marion County board meeting in Marion on May 16.

If you are interested in attending the county meeting, call Judy Mellott for additional information.

The local business meeting is May 20 where all the information is shared with those who were unable to attend.

We will be back on track with our Dinner with the Doctor starting May 7.

Randolph Whitely always brings interesting information for seniors, so be sure to join us.

Bingo is also back on the schedule for May 14.

We also would like to find some new card players to play Pinochle on Tuesday afternoons after lunch.

For those interested, give us a call. We have several people that like to play and the center remains open to accommodate them.

Also, anyone who has a favorite card or board game is invited to come and play. Just let us know.

Remember we will be closed May 26 for Memorial Day.

Lunch for those 60 years and older is a suggested price of $3.15, and the cost for anyone 59 and under is $5.

For more information about the center or to make reservations, stop by the center at 106 N. Walnut St. in Peabody or call us at 620-983-2226.
