We will be enjoying the fall weather and hope it stays that way.

We are on our last week of September already. Then October starts. Then it will be time for the holidays.

Remember we have meal tickets you can purchase makes a great gift.

We will have Amy Jantz here on Thursday, Sept. 27 from the Newton Medical Center.

On Friday, Sept. 28 we will have show and tell. Bring anything to share.

We are needing more volunteers from 11 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. Call for more information. We have a great time at the center.

We are looking for programs for our center. We are also looking for singing programs for our holiday dinners if someone knows of anyone please let us know at 620-947-2304.

We also like programs on trips, or crafts or hobbies. We just enjoy new ideas.

We want to thank everyone for your support to our center. We only run off donations so everyone that donates helps keep our center going.

We look forward to seeing you at the center soon.

Lots going on this month of October. Flu shots were given on Monday, Oct. 1.

Grief Share will be from 3-4 p.m. pm Thursday, Oct. 9.

Birthday Dinner will be on Wednesday, Oct. 10.

Dr. Whitely will give a program on Friday, Oct. 12.

Bingo with Shan Copeland will be on Tuesday, Oct. 16.

And, of course, how can we forget Halloween? Wear a costume and get a treat.

Peppernut baking will be on Thursday Oct. 11, Monday, Oct. 15, Monday, Oct. 22, Thurs, Oct. 25 and Monday, Oct. 29. We need many volunteers to help with this project. We will begin baking right after lunch so put on an apron and come on down. This project takes many hands to make it a success.

Peggy Goertzen will be coming to our center and give a program on “The Prisoners of War”. Peabody had several prisoners held here, and they would work for farmers during the day and then come back to the Heckondorn building at night. There are several seniors who are still living here in Peabody that lived on farms as a child and still remember some of the prisoners. We would love to have you write and share some of your memories of that time.

Gayla Ratzlaff is scheduled to come to Peabody from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on Oct. 25 and in Nov. for your prescriptions and help with medicare. You can call us and schedule an appointment with her.

We can still use volunteers, so if you can spare one day a week, 2 1/2 hours, would be awesome. You do make a difference!

Come on by and have lunch with us. October menus are now available.

Meals are $3.50 for 60+ and $5.25 for 59 and under. Be sure to call and make a reservation.

Take advantage of our Meals on Wheels program, please call for information at 620-983-226.
