hillsboro senior center
We want to thank everyone for coming to our make-up meal Saturday.
Bingo is Wednesday, July 23, after the noon meal, and the monthly birthday meal is July 28.
The August menus will be out soon, but one noteworthy item is Friday, Aug. 8, with the center planning a social.
The event is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and we will be serving sloppy joes, chips, coffee, pie and ice cream for $7.
We will also have music by the McKinny sisters. Everyone is urged to mark their calendars for that day. It will be a fun evening and a good way to support our senior center. Sign up for this fundraiser is not needed.
We are in need of fruit pies for the social and anyone wanting to help is asked to bring pies to the center by 3 p.m. on Aug. 8.
For those wanting to help, pies can be either handmade or purchased from the store.
Anyone who can help is asked to call the center.
The center is blessed with wonderful people who help out. Please come and join us for a meal and fellowship soon.
We are here from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are located at 212 N. Main St., or call 620-947-2304.

When I unlocked the front door to the senior center on Wednesday, July 16, I found three containers of apples, and a note from Laurie Miesse.
Darvin Markley brought in cucumbers and squash one day. They were quickly taken.
We sang, ?Happy Birthday,? to Karen Chaput on July 14. She and husband Gary had delivered meals that day.
July 16 was Senior Center Day. Sue Clough conducted the business meeting. We had five Lincolnville ladies join us.
They included Maxine Barton, Twilla Baker, Cruz Carasco, Atta Huffington and Ruth Tajchman.
Bennie Holtsclaw played his guitar and sang after lunch to a very appreciative crowd.
We will celebrate July 25, National Day of the Cowboy. Everyone is encouraged to wear a cowboy hat, boots and spurs. We will read cowboy poetry.
Come join us July 30. Sherry Dreier, who lives at Schowater Villa in Hesston, will talk about her quilting projects.

Mark your calendar for Friday, July 25, because we are having a hamburger and hot dog cookout with all the trimmings. We will serve from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and no reservations are needed.
Bob and the Boys will be here playing and singing at 5:30 p.m., and we know you won?t want to miss that.
This is a fundraiser for the center and the cost will be by donation.
Come and eat early and listen to music, or come later and listen and eat at the same time. It?s your choice, but either way, it?s supporting our center.
Earlier in the day, Danielle Decker from the Sedgwick County Zoo is presenting a program for us after the midday meal.
We know you will want to come and hear the stories of the zoo. It promises to be entertaining.
