HILLSBORO SENIOR CENTER

We hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving, and a reminder that the center is closed Thursday and Friday.

It will reopen Monday, Dec. 1, and on Dec. 2 chair massages will be available.

Bingo will be played Dec. 3, and we hope others can join us for this activity and others.

Volunteers are needed to help from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the kitchen. Anyone who volunteers will get their meal free the day they work.

Anyone who can spare a day or two each month is encouraged to let us know.

We always are looking for program ideas, and those who have something they would like to share, please let us know.

Some ideas could be a recent trip, playing a musical instrument or other interesting hobbies.

We want to thank our volunteers, Meals on Wheels driver and board members for their help and continued support of the senior center.

For more information or to volunteer, call 620-947-2304 or stop by the senior center, 212 N. Main St.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

We had a presentation Nov. 14 by Marion Mayor Todd Heitschmidt on the projects going on in the city of Marion.

We celebrated Mickey Mouse?s birthday Nov. 18. Shirley Bowers and I displayed some collectibles and Sue Clough led us in a rousing Mickey Mouse Club song.

Several people wore appropriate sweatshirts.

Senior Center Day was Nov. 19. Sue Clough, center president, conducted the business meeting.

She announced that the Area Agency hired Barb Bitner as head cook.

She has been cooking for several months.

We need some volunteers to embroider tea towels.

Come join us Dec. 3. Gerry Henderson and Keith Allison will do a musical Christmas program after lunch.

PEABODY SENIOR CENTER

Another week has slipped by, and Thanksgiving is almost here.

This is such a special holiday as we can and should stop and reflect on all the blessings we have received and the good that surrounds us. With so much negativity these days it is easy to overlook the good that comes our way.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you from all of us at the Peabody Senior Center.

We have a busy month scheduled for December and hope you will make plans to join us for some of the activities.

We are going to decorate the center on Monday, Dec 1, and because we do a lot of it, we can use help.

We appreciate all of our volunteers.

Of course we are welcoming back our regular cook, Kim Nellans, on Dec. 1. We are delighted that she is back, but are grateful for the substitution done by Sherri Wilson. It is wonderful to have such good cooks for our kitchen.

Our menus for December are available, and can be picked up 106 N Walnut. The menus will keep everyone up-to-date on what we are eating each day and the activities going on.

Birthday dinner is Dec. 11. Please join us for the birthday celebration and hear a program from Frank and Helen Nachtigal.

The center will be closed for Christmas and the day after, but we will have our make-up meal at 5:30 p.m. Dec 17. This will be chili, fruit and cinnamon cake.

Evening meals are a change for us and can include people that normally are not able to eat with us. So we hope you will be able to join us.

Make your reservations early. Last time our worst nightmare came true, when we had to turn some away that had not signed up because we ran out of chili.

Please come by 106 N. Walnut or call us at 620-983-2226.

We look forward to seeing you.

For seniors, the cost of a meal is suggested at $3.15 or $5 for those under 65.
