HILLSBORO SENIOR CENTER
Thanks to everyone who, thus far, donated toward the purchase of a new air conditioner and heating unit at the Hillsboro Senior Center.
We have replaced one unit, but a second unit is needed, which is why we are asking for more donations.
Our monthly expenses total about $2,000, which includes the cost of gas, cable and city utilities.
It takes a lot to run the center, and that?s why we have fundraising events.
To everyone who helps in whatever way they can, we are grateful.
April is nearly over, but on April 29 we will play bingo.
We also have a few programs planned in May.
One of those events on May 1 is Mother?s Day trivia.
In addition, from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 2, is our ladies tea and fashion show, sponsored by Nancy?s Fashion. Everyone planning to attend is encouraged to wear thier ladies tea hat, too.
A few tickets are still available for the show.
Some silent auction items are available. Stop by and look at them, then place a bid. The highest bid will be called during the ladies tea party, and winners don?t have to be present.
The auction has a lot of great items, and remember that all the money goes to help the senior center.
The silent auction closes at 1 p.m. Monday, May 4.
Chair massages are available May 6. Anyone interested is asked to call and get their name on the list.
Come join us for a meal soon. The suggested cost for people 60 and older is $3.15, and for those 59 and younger, $5.
For more information or to volunteer, stop by 212 N. Main St. or call 620-947-2304 between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
We hope to see you soon.

We received information that long-time diners, Darrell and Beulah Weigart now live at Salem Home in Hillsboro.
Our program on April 22 was given by Linda of Eagle Med. Their helicopter was at St. Luke Hospital that day.
