Senior Scribbles 12-25-19

HILLSBORO SENIOR CENTER

We hope everyone has a merry Christmas and a happy new year. We will be getting the menus out soon sorry for the delay. We will be closed the 24th and the 25th for the Christmas holiday and on Jan 1. If you need meal tickets for a gift idea, we are open on Dec 23. We will be back on Thursday, Dec. 26. There is a need for more meals on wheels drivers. The time would be 10:30-11:30 a.m. We will train you, too. If you can help, let us know. As always, we can also use volunteers from 11 a.m. -1:30 p.m. We are also looking for new program ideas. Let us know if you have one. We thank everyone for your support to our center and we hope you will join us soon for a meal. Happy Holidays to everyone! —Brenda Moss, director

PEABODY SENIOR CENTER

What a difference a few days make. Freezing cold, icy and then 50 to 60 degrees. Remember, when the school closes, our Center will be closed. We send out all of the Emergency Meals we receive from Manhattan as soon as we receive them, that way you can have a backup meal. We wish you a Merry Christmas and safe travels over the holidays. Christmas Eve services will be held at the Lutheran Chuch, 212 E. Division, at 5 p.m. with music starting at 4:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. We will be closed on Christmas Day. Our Holiday Brunch will be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 27. We will have sausage, scrambled eggs, and biscuits and gravy. We end the year with a Pizza Party on Dec. 31. That’s homemade pizza and yes, Bob Delk will be here with Steve Hanneman and others to play their music. Free Press is always available at Peabody Market and CK Pharmacy. Our Center also sets out a few copies of the Free Press for you to take home. January Menus can be picked up anytime. Let us know if you would like an extra meal on Tuesday, Dec. 24. Meals are $3.50 for 60+ and $5,25 for 59 and under. Be sure to call and make a reservation. Take advantage of our Meals on Wheels program, please call for information (620-983-2226). — Lou Ann Bowlin, site manager
