MARION SENIOR CENTER

We celebrated several things this week, the biggest being the new kitchen range which was long needed. Our head cook, Kathy Bernhardt, is grateful. Thanks to all who contributed financially to this project. Norma Kline brought treats for her birthday on Jan. 10. We welcomed Harvest House for lunch that day, too. Senior Center Day was Jan. 15. Vice President Janie Westerman conducted the business meeting. The Aulne church birthday bunch ate with us that day. They were honoring January birthdays of Evelyn Hett, Judy Claassen, Betty Just, Larry Ensey and Jim Hett, who turned 92 years old that very day. Remember our building is rented for $75.00 including a range, microwave and refrigerator for your use. Call 620-382-2942. Join us on Jan. 29 when we celebrate Kansas Day. PEABODY SENIOR CENTER

Does it seem possible that we are already halfway through January? We were not sure if meals could be delivered because of school closures so we sent an extra meal on Thursday to our seniors. Remember, when its necessary to close the school, we do not deliver meals as it is not safe for our drivers. Myrta Billings is teaching K-State Nutrition. She will be here every Thursday until Feb. 13. Jaime and Christina (Angels) will be here Feb. 13 before lunch to take your blood pressure. They will come on the second Thursday of each month. Gayla Ratzlaff will be here from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Jan. 29 for LIEAP and if you bring your tax information, she will take them with her and then let you know when they are finished. Call us at the Center (620-983-2226) and set up a time that will be good for you, it takes her about 15 min. per person. We can always use volunteers in the kitchen. Give us a call if you can spare a couple of hours. It’s more fun when there are two working in the kitchen. Stop by, pick up a February menu and visit a spell. Did you know you can order a meal on Fridays before 9 a.m. or on Thursday, if you would like an extra meal on weekends, they can be delivered with the Meals on Wheels or picked up here at the Center on Fri. Meals are $3.50 for 60+ and $5.25 for 59 and under. Be sure to call and make a reservation. Take advantage of our Meals on Wheels programn, please call for information (620-983-2226). — Lou Ann Bowlin, site manager
