MARION SENIOR CENTER

We began a busy week with the distribution of turkeys from the Kansas Food Bank for those signing up ahead of time. We hosted the Marion County Senior Citizens board meeting on Dec 20 thanks to Vickie Kaempfe and Shirley Moore for refreshments. It was also Janie Westerman’s birthday. Several people rode the van on Dec 23 to Galva to see Becky Hogue’s new house. Bob Crawford was the driver. On Christmas Eve we sent out gift stockings prepared by Marion Elementary School third-graders to our Meals on Wheels recipients. After lunch Jim and Lydia Gates and Margaret Wilson presented a lively holiday music program. Then Gene Winkler called bingo, with Janie Westerman handing out prizes We had a surprise visitor that a few of us got to pet, a baby lamb brought to our back door. We are closed New Year’s Day. All Elvis fans are invited to find their poodle skirts, saddle oxfords and come to Marion Senior Center at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3. Elvis impersonator Marc Baker from Wichita will be performing many of Elvis’s big hits. Snacks will be available. Monetary donations for this event will be accepted. — Janet Bryant, director WEDNESDAY, Jan 1

PEABODY SENIOR CENTER

We could have not had better weather this Christmas. We hope everyone who traveled had a safe journey. We will end the year with a Pizza Party on Dec, 31. That’s homemade pizza and yes, Bob Delk will be here with Steve Hanneman and others to play their music. Please come and enjoy Remember we are closed on Jan. 1. Happy New Year’s everyone. Birthday Dinner will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 8. Jaime Garcia “Angels” will be here on January 9 to do a small program and take blood pressure readings. Grief share is from 3-5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14. We can always use volunteers in the kitchen. Give us a call if you can spare a couple of hours It’s more fun when there are two working in the kitchen. Stop by, pick up a Jan, menu and have a cup of coffee. Let us know if you would like an extra meal on weekends, they can be delivered with the Meals on Wheels or picked up here at the Center. Meals are $3.50 for 60+ and $5.25 for 59 and under.
