Ratzlaff signs with Ottawa University

The Ottawa University men’s basketball program is pleased to announce the signing of Brekyn Ratzlaff for the 2023-24 season. He is from Hillsboro and attends Hillsboro High School.
Ratzlaff lettered in basketball at Hillsboro High School. He finished his four-year career at HHS as the program’s all-time leader in scoring and assists. Ratzlaff scored 1,000 points during his junior season. He helped the Trojans to a 2020-21 and 2021-22 Kansas State 2A Championship and to a 2019-20 Kansas State 2A Forever 4 appearance. Ratzlaff was named the Kansas State 2A Most Outstanding Player of Tournament in 2020-21 and 2021-22. He was selected to play in the Hutchinson Community College All-Star Game and the KBCA All-Star Game.
In 2022-23, Ratzlaff was named First Team Kansas All-State by Sports in Kansas, KSHSAA Covered, the Wichita Eagle, an the KBCA. He finished his career with 1,436 points, 282 rebounds, 365 assists, and 179 steals.
“We are thrilled that Brekyn has decided to be a Brave,” said OU head men’s basketball coach Aaron Siebenthall. “Brekyn comes to OU after a very successful high school career at Hillsboro High School. He is a proven winner and we expect him to impact our varsity program right away. Brekyn has the skill set to make those around him better.”
Ratzlaff is the son of Micah and Amanda Ratzlaff and plans to concentrate on general studies before deciding on a major. He played travel ball for Oz Elite under coach Roger Haynes.
