ACCIDENTS At 11:54 pm on Oct. 17, Leila Coester, 68, and William Coester, 70, of Cottonwood Falls were driving a beige 2004 Chevy Cruze eastbound on U.S. Highway 50. A deer was standing in the roadway. The vehicle struck the deer .5 miles west of Wagonwheel. Deputy Bronson L. Shipman investigated.
At 8:25 pm on Oct. 17, John Kline, 82, and Deanne Kline, 80, of Herington, were driving a gray 2015 Honda Accord northbound on U.S. Highway 77, just north of 20th, when a deer ran into the side of the vehicle. Deputy D. M. Harper-Head investigated.

10/15/2018 Officers worked on reports In the office. Officers took calls reference to letters sent out for Special Purpose Vehicle renewals. Officers renewed three (3) Special Purpose Vehicle Permits. Officers took a report of barking dogs in the 300 block of Garfield, owner was contacted and took animals inside. Officers conducted follow up investigations.

10/16/2018 Officers patrolled school zones prior to the start of class. Officers made a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Denver giving a verbal warning for obstructed windows due to frost. Officers provided a welfare check in the 500 block of north Coble, everything was okay. Officers provided a walkthrough at Oasis. Officers patrolled school zones during dismissal. Officers provided a welfare check in the 1500 block of east Main, everything was okay. Officers responded to the 200 block of north Roosevelt for a dispute over ownership of an animal, no action was taken.

10/17/2018 Officers patrolled school zones prior to the start of class. Officers received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Lawrence and Freeborn, no vehicle was located at the time of call. Officers responded to a non-injury accident near First and Main. Officers received a report of a dog at large. Officers assisted the Butler County Sheriffs Office with follow up on a case. Officers provided testimony at District Court. Officers received a complaint of door-to-door sales people in the 100 block of north Roosevelt, individuals were later found and advised the needed a permit. Officers conducted a traffic stop near Second and Main issuing a verbal warning for improper backing. Officers conducted a traffic stop near Third and Main issuing a verbal warning for head lamp out. Officers conducted a traffic stop near Third and Main issuing a verbal warning for white light to rear and a citation for no proof of liability insurance.

10/18/2018 Officers completed reports from previous day. Officers patrolled school zones prior to the start of class. Officers checked house watch residences. Officers renewed SPV license. Officers assisted Marion County Sheriffs Deputies. Officers assisted citizen with capture of their dog. Officers assisted the Salina Police Department with locating information on someone. Officers assisted the Peabody Police Department with an attempted suicide.

10/19/2018 Officers patrolled school zones prior to the start of class. Officers provided two VIN inspections at the office. Officers worked on reports. Officers retuned phone call reference to a report from an outside agency. Officers responded to a non-injury accident near the intersection of NIckerson and Coble. Officers patrolled school zones during dismissal.

10/21/2018 At approximately 1750 hours officers were dispatched to 412 N. Second for the report of a disturbance. Officer’s conducted an investigation into the disturbance and arrested Cheyeene Rosenbaum, 19, Marion, Kansas on charges of Domestic Battery, and Minor in Consumption ofAlcohoL Cheyeene Rosenbaum was booked into the Marion County Jail.

10/20/2018 approximately 0044 hours Officers were dispatched to 301 W. Main for the report of a disturbance. Officers conducted an investigation into the disturbance and arrested Shai Farrow, 19, Marion, Kansas on a single charge of Domestic Battery. Shai Farrow was booked into the Marion County Jaii. Officers unlocked park restrooms. Officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 56 near milepost 304 issuing a citation for speed over posted max Slmph in a SSmph zone. Officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 56 at Cedar Street issuing a verbal warning for speed over posted. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Hudson issuing a verbal warning for basic speed rule. Officers met with citizen reference to a possible theft, theft occurred in another jurisdiction. Officers met with citizen in reference to a scam. Officers conducted follow up investigations from the previous night.

10/21/2018 Officers worked on reports in the office. Officers responded to the report of a dog at large in the ICQ block of Billings, officers were unsuccessful in attempts to catch the dog. Attempts are still being made to contact the owner. Officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 56 near milepost 304 issuing a citation for speed over posted maximum 86mph in a 65mph zone. Officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 56 near Remington Road issuing a citation for speed over posted max 79mph in a 65mph zone.

10-11-18 Assisted road construction crew with removing vehicles parked in their way. Arrested a subject on an outstanding warrant. Recovered the Tabor Gator stolen from Tabor on 10-10-18.

10-12-18 Report of a non injury accident in Hillsboro Heights – very minor damage – no report taken. Assisted DCF with an investigation. Assisted the U.S Department of Probation with a background investigation. Assisted the sheriff with an investigation. Burglary report in the 300 block of N. Ash. Report of a suspicious vehicle in the 700 block of S. Ash. Arrested a subject on an outstanding warrant

ACCIDENTS
At 9:30 am on Oct. 20, Patrick Stevens, 39, Wichita, was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 77. A deer came from the East side of the highway and collided with the right side of the silver 2014 Chevy Explorer. Deputy Kaylan Miles investigated.
At 7:15 pm on Oct. 21, Eileen Kimble, 63, of Mulvane was driving a maroon 2007 GMC Denali southbound on Kansas Highway 15. A deer ran into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle. The deer was killed. Sgt. Larry Starkey investigated.
At 8:55 on Oct. 21, Myron Hiebert, 55, and Ann Hiebert, 56 of Canton were driving a gray 2009 Chevy Traverse southbound on Kansas Highway 15. Two deer came from the west side of the road and the vehicle struck both deer. The vehicle received damage to the passenger’s side. There were no injuries. Deputy Aaron Slater investigated.
At 6:00 am on Oct. 22, Shawna Johnson, 33, of Marion, was driving a white 2017 Honda Civic southbound on Sunflower when a deer came into the road way causing the vehicle to hit the deer. Deputy T. Wilson investigated.
At 7:25 pm on Oct. 22, Christopher Ramey, 24, of Aulne was making a left hand turn from Upland Rd onto Kansas Highway 256. A second vehicle came from behind driving to the left of the vehicle driven by Ramey. This caused a collision. The second vehicle fled the scene westbound. Deputy D.M. Harper-Head investigated.
At 8:38 pm on Oct. 23, Bobby Vanderzanden, 45, of Marion, was driving a gray 1995 Chevy S10 north bound on Sunflower. A deer was standing in the northbound lane and the vehicle struck the deer approximately .1 miles south of 180th. Deputy Bronson L. Shipman investigated.

Officers patrolled school zones prior to the start of class. Officers took a report of a dog at large, and transported animal to the Animal Health Center. Officers provided three VIN inspections. Officers renewed two Special Purpose Vehicle permits. Officers provided a welfare check in the 100 block of west Jefferson, everything was okay. Officers assisted the Hilisboro Police Department with a runaway juvenile in the 400 block of north Second. Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Cedar and Main issuing a verbal warning for failure to dim headlights. Officers conducted foot patrol downtown checking business doors, ail were secure.

10/23/2018 – Officers spoke with concerned citizen. Officers assisted Marion Ambulance in the 1500 block of Victory Lane. Officers provided two VIN inspections. Officers responded to an out of control juvenile in the 1500 block of east Lawrence. Officers took a report of criminal damage to property in the 100 block of south Second. Officers returned a phone call reference to suspicious activity from a previous day. Officers took a report of a car vs deer that occurred out in the county, information was collected and passed onto Deputies.
Officers conducted traffic stops at First and Main and the two hundred block of south Third issuing verbal warning for traffic infractions. Officers checked on a suspicious vehicle in the 1500 block of east Denver,
everything was okay.

10/24/2018 – Officers patrolled school zones prior to the start of class. Officers assisted Marion Ambulance in Florence at Johnson’s General Store with CPR. Officers returned phone calls. Officers returned phone calls.

10/25/2018 – Officers patrolled school zones prior to the start of class. Officers returned phone calls. Officers provided two VIN inspections. Officers patrolled school zones during dismissal. Officers responded to a 911 hang up in the 600 block of Lawrence, everything was okay. Officers provided foot patrol downtown checking business doors. Officers worked on a list of street light repairs for city crews.

10/26/2018 – Officer checked house watch list. Officers provided two VIN inspections. Officers participated in firearms qualification at the range. Officers received a report of someone riding an ATV on Main Street, when officers arrived in the area no one was located.

10/27/2018 – Officers conducted three traffic stops issuing verbal warnings for speed over posted. Officers took a report of a dog bite in the ICQ block of north Cedar. Officers conducted a traffic stop near the Intersection of Walnut and Santa Fe issuing a verbal warning for no headlights when required. Officers assisted the Marion County Sheriffs Office with an injury accident on Remington near 210 .
