Accidents

At 9:27 a.m. Sept. 1, Ralph Michael Hurtig, 63, Saint Joseph, Mo., was driving a 2002 Dodge Caravan north on Upland when he left the roadway to the west and entered the ditch. He drove in the ditch, then hit a concrete culvert and continued on in the ditch, eventually coming to rest in the west ditch facing northwest. Deputy Wilma Mueller investigated.

At 11:10 a.m. Sept. 10, Korey Joseph Linder, 20, Marion, was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup north on Kanza between 180th and 190th when he observed a peacock in his lane The driver applied his brakes, made an evasive maneuver, entered the ditch on the west side of the road and struck a tree. The vehicle then rolled and flipped onto its top, coming to rest in the west side ditch with the front of the vehicle facing east. Deputy Wilma Mueller investigated.

At 6:57 a.m. Sept. 18, Darla Jo Gore, 23, Marion, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Impala east on 190th. The vehicle began to hydroplane and left the road to the right, then the driver over-corrected, crossed the center line, returned and left the road to the right and overturned. Hillsboro Ambulance transported the driver to Hillsboro Community Hospital. Deputy D.L. Fetrow investigated.

At 8:40 p.m. Sept. 19, Donald G. Rosfeld, 70, Peabody, was driving a 1991 Chevrolet S10 pickup east in the 400 block of 120th near Diamond. Two deer ran into the path of the vehicle and were hit and killed. Deputy M.E. Ottensmeier investigated.

At 7:39 a.m. Sept. 22, Ina J. Carroll, 61, Florence, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Impala west on 120th when she looked over to adjust her mirror. She left the road to the right, then over-corrected. The vehicle was pulled into the ditch, traveled through a pasture fence and came to rest after hitting a large cedar tree. Deputy Derek L. Fetrow investigated.

At 8:05 p.m. Sept. 24, Brad A. Richards, 46, Hillsboro, was driving a 2009 Ford Explorer westbound on US Highway 56 near Kansas Highway 15 when a large owl flew into the driver?s side door of the vehicle causing damage to the mirror. Deputy M.E. Ottensmeier investigated.

Offenses

Sometime between 8-8:30 p.m. Sept. 19, a lawn mower valued at $50 and a weed eater valued at $150 were taken from a residence on Remington, near Marion.
