Accidents

At 1:44 p.m. April 5, Taylor E. Peterson, 17, Lincolnville, was driving a 2006 Ford Freestyle northbound on U.S. Highway 77 when a deer entered the roadway from the west. The driver lost control of the vehicle when she slowed to avoid striking the deer. The vehicle spun and ended up facing south on the northbound shoulder of the roadway against a guardrail, causing damage to the vehicle and the guardrail. The driver was taken by Marion Ambulance to St. Luke?s Hospital. Deputy Wilma Mueller investigated.

At 12:45 p.m. April 9, Leslie B. Allison, 70, Florence, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado pickup eastbound on 7th Street in Florence. Hazel Marie Clothier, 94, Florence, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Impala north on Cottonwood Street. Allison thought Clothier was slowing down, so he entered the intersection. The right front corner of his vehicle struck the second vehicle causing damage on the driver?s side door and driver?s side back passenger door. Deputy Wilma Mueller investigated.

At 8:47 a.m. April 10, Cecilia Pouniu Berna, 18, Newton, was driving a 1993 Toyota Camry north on Indigo. The driver stated her car began to shake then she left the road to the right and the vehicle overturned. Light rim marks on the road would indicate a possible tire issue. Hillsboro Emergency Medical Services transported the driver to Hillsboro Community Hospital. Deputy Derek L. Fetrow investigated.

At 10:30 a.m. April 13, Doyle Jost, 48, Hillsboro, was driving a 2008 Ford F15 pickup eastbound on U.S. Highway 56, when two deer entered the roadway. The driver was unable to avoid striking one of the deer. Deputy Wilma Mueller investigated.

At 8:20 p.m. April 13, Carolyn Mae Hamm, 71, Newton, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze westbound on 150th when a deer ran from the south ditch and struck the vehicle on the driver?s door and windshield. Sgt. Larry Starkey investigated.

At 1:17 p.m. April 15, Oliver J. Good, 32, Lawrence, was traveling westbound on 190th in a 2010 Ford Transit Connect van. A turkey struck the windshield when it flew from the north side ditch into the path of the vehicle. Deputy Bronson L. Ship?man investigated.

Offenses

On April 6 between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Hydrocodone and Cyclo?benzadrine valued at $25 each were removed without permission from a residence on 290th in Lincolnville.

April 13: Report of sick skunk in the 300 block of West Third St; exterminated animal. Assisted Kansas Department of Family and Children?s Services with a case involving a 3-year-old child. Did work on Drug Abuse Resistance Education class, also known as DARE.

April 14: Received report of suspicious activity in the 600 block of South Lincoln Street. Report of citizen locked out of house in the 300 block of North Main Street. Responded to report of family fighting. Received criminal damage to property complaint in the 200 block of East Grand Avenue. Worked on DARE program. Patrolled school zones.

April 15: Investigated report of juvenile huffing paint. Investigated harassing telephone call complaint. Responded to suspicious activity involving Hillsboro High School student?s vehicle. Patrolled school zones.

April 16: Traffic enforcement; speeding. Assisted Marion County Sheriff?s office with traffic investigation. Attended board meeting of Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center, also known as JIAS. Worked on DARE program. Patrolled school zones.

April 17: Investigated juvenile reported as runaway. Midwest Radar; radar certification completed. Traffic enforcement; speeding. Responded to alarm at Walmart. Assist with search for dogs at large. Patrolled school zones. Investigated harassment complaint in the 200 block of South Main Street. Responded to dog fight with injuries. Assisted Marion Police Department with a driving under the influence.

April 18: Provided traffic control for Skeeter Run. Investigated theft complaint at Ampride. Assisted with HHS promenade. Investigated 911 hang-up in the 100 block of North Cedar Street.

April 19: Received dog at large complaint in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue. Investigated discharge of pellet gun. Assisted motorist. Worked on DARE program.
